The Baltimore Mayor's Castro Odyssey
Stephanie Rawlings-Blake visits a slave camp for advice on "economic development."
Remember how after Baltimore was half destroyed by rioters last summer Baltimore mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake’s made headlines by claiming she gave Baltimore rioters “space to destroy”?
She tried to walk back the unfortunate statement—but it only half-worked.
In any case, as president of the U.S. Conference of Mayors, last week she was in (totally destroyed by Communism) Cuba leading a mayoral delegation which also includes Mitch Landrieu, mayor of New Orleans (among the murder capitols of the U.S.).
“These meetings and visits will provide U.S. mayors and Cuban officials the opportunity to share best practices for providing city services in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and transportation, according to the press release.”
Note how the release says the Communist apparatchiks and U.S. mayors will ”share.“ This implies that – on the dime of their taxpayers, and in between imbibing mojitos and getting secretly videotaped by KGB-trained secret police – mayors of important U.S. urban centers will:
*Seek advice on economic development from Communist crooks and murderers, who converted a nation with a higher standard of living than much of Europe and swamped with immigrants from Europe into a vast slum and sewer that repels evens Haitians. (These Cuban communists have also administered the education, healthcare, infrastructure and transportation of their colony of Venezuela for the past decade or so.)
*Seek advice on governmental services from Communist vermin who converted a nation that formerly attracted more immigrants per-capita than the U.S. (and even from the U.S.) into a hellhole that drove TWENTY times as many desperate Cubans to die horribly attempting to escape it as East Germans died trying to flee East Germany.
*Seek advice on healthcare from murderers and imbeciles who converted a nation with the 13th lowest infant-mortality on earth -- ahead of France, Belgium, West Germany, Israel, Japan, Austria, Italy, Spain, and Portugal – into an island slum, sewer and prison ravaged by diseases long-eradicated in Cuba, boasting the highest suicide rate in the hemisphere and whose practicing “doctors” overwhelmingly flunk the exam given in the U.S. for licensing as doctor’s assistants.”
*Seek advice on improving urban transportation from Communist assassins and idiots who converted a nation whose citizens in 1958 owned OVER THREE TIMES as many cars per capita as did Spaniards, Japanese and Greeks into a place where ox-carts and rickshaws have become coveted luxury items (to say nothing of the mass coveting of toilet paper).
In fact, in 1958 Cubans owned about the same number of cars per-capita as those famous car-nuts the Italians (Fiat, Alfa-Romeo, Masseratti, Ferrari, etc.). Quite fittingly, in the 1950s Cuba also hosted the “Cuban Grand Prix,” featuring the world’s top drivers from America’s Caroll Shelby to Britain’s Stirling Moss to Argentina’s Juan Manuel Fangio.
Every single item mentioned above is thoroughly documented here.
Like clockwork, many of these smitten mayors will return singing the glories of Castroism and denouncing the wickedness of the U.S. “blockade” against this innocent, inoffensive (but terror-sponsoring, nuke-rattling, drug-running, gun-running, espionage-expert, larcenous and Stalinist) regime.
Just watch. After all, we’ve all seen this movie before, haven’t we?
Only about fifty thousand times. Only after every visit by every celebrity or politician to Cuba. Interesting how that works. Maybe Lt. Col. Chris Simmons, recently retired as the Defense intelligence Agency top Cuban spycatcher, can explain the matter: “The vetting procedure starts the minute the Cuban regime receives an Americans’ visa application. When the smiling Cuban ‘guides’ greet these Americans at the airport they know plenty about them, and from several angles.”
Maybe Cuban defector Delfin Fernandez can also help explain this familiar phenomenon: “My job was to bug visiting American’s hotel rooms,” revealed this high-ranking Cuban intelligence defector, “with both cameras and listening devices. And famous Americans are the priority objectives of Castro’s intelligence. When the celebrity visitors arrived at the Hotel Nacional, Melia Habana and Melia Cohiba,” says Fernandez, “we already had their rooms completely bugged with sophisticated taping equipment. But not just the rooms, we’d also follow the visitors around. Sometimes we covered them 24 hours a day. They had no idea we were tailing them.”
Like clockwork, Castro’s KGB-mentored media is already citing mayor Rawlings-Blake’s sentiments against the diabolical “U.S. blockade:” “She’s trying to remove the obstacles to eliminating the economic, commercial and financial blockade unilaterally imposed on Cuba for more than 50 years.”
“Democratic U.S. mayors join Communist thieves in campaign against the U.S. taxpayer,” might be a better headline here. Could anything be more appropriate? I realize in the media you keep reading about some malicious “embargo” even a “blockade” against poor little Cuba by mean ol’ Uncle Sam. But as we’ve often discussed hereabouts, nothing remotely of the sort exists. The so-called embargo mostly prohibits U.S. sales to the thieving/deadbeat Castros via the Federal Export-Import bank—which is to say, on the dime of the U.S. taxpayer.
In brief, both groups of crooks and chiselers (U.S. Democratic mayors and their recent Communist hosts) share an agenda: to further bilk the U.S. taxpayer, after overseeing the destruction of their respective cities. It took a bit longer in (once-attractive) cities like Detroit, Baltimore, New Orleans , etc., but their procession of Democratic mayors did a bang-up job of converting them into replicas of crumbling Communist-run Havana, once known as the “Paris of the Americas” before Castro got hold of it.
So what happens now?
Well, start bawling for yet more federal aid (i.e. dollars from the wallets of those Americans who still pay taxes). What else? Heck, it’s been working like a charm so far. You see, amigos, though they carefully camouflage their agenda with high-sounding terms, both the “anti-Cuba-embargo” lobbyists and mayors like Stephanie Rawlings-Blake are after the same thing: our wallets.
And given the number of Cuban officials defecting lately, don’t be surprised when Netflix starts promoting: “U.S. Mayors Gone Wild!”
